Spring Has Sprung

Spring is here, and with it comes a rush of visitors eager to experience the charm of our little farm nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains. This season, visits are picking up faster than ever, and we want to take a moment to thank everyone who chooses to make our farm part of their trip. Meeting new friends and sharing our fold with you all brings us so much joy.

We also have some exciting news to share. Our beloved highland cows, Stormy and Cindy, recently had the honor of being featured in the latest edition of the Canadian Highland Cattle Society's magazine, The Kyloe Cry. Stormy and Cindy made the rear cover, which, if you know Stormy, only confirms her high opinion of herself, with a smile.

Looking ahead, we are planning to add a few special events this year. Keep an eye out for announcements—we can’t wait to welcome you back for more memorable experiences.

Welcoming Visitors as Spring Breathes New Life

Spring brings a fresh energy to the farm. The air feels lighter, the grass grows greener, and the baby cows begin to explore their surroundings with curious eyes. Visitors arrive with smiles, ready to enjoy the peaceful mountain setting and meet our friendly highland cows.

We love seeing families, couples, and solo travelers take time to connect with nature and the animals. Many visitors tell us that spending time with the highland cows is a highlight of their trip. The gentle nature of these animals makes them perfect companions for a relaxing day outdoors.

Our baby cows are especially popular this time of year. Watching them explore and play in the fields is a heartwarming sight that never gets old. It’s a reminder of the simple joys that farming life offers.

The Honor of Being Featured in The Kyloe Cry

One of the highlights of this spring has been the feature of Storm and Cindy in the Canadian Highland Cattle Society's magazine, The Kyloe Cry. Having our highland cows on the rear cover is a proud moment for us.

Cindy, with her majestic horns and calm demeanor, and Stormy, with her playful spirit, represent the heart of our fold. This recognition from the society not only celebrates their beauty but also highlights the care and dedication we put into raising them.

Exciting Upcoming Special Events

We're thrilled to share that we'll be introducing several new special events throughout the year. These events will offer visitors unique opportunities to engage with the farm and the highland cows.

Some of the concepts we're considering include:

  • Guided farm tours that highlight the life cycle of highland cows and their calves

  • Paint parties where guests can unleash their creativity while enjoying the farm atmosphere

  • Cookie decorating classes that allow participants to create delicious and artistic treats

We hope that these events can bring family and friends together for an evening of relaxing fun where they unplug and refresh while enjoying the company of their loved ones and the fluffy coos, too.

Why Visiting a Highland Cow Farm Matters

Visiting a farm like ours offers more than just a day out. It provides a chance to slow down, connect with animals. Highland cows are a unique breed with a rich history, and seeing them up close helps people understand the importance of preserving heritage breeds.

For families, it’s an opportunity to teach children about nature and responsibility. For travelers, it’s a peaceful retreat from busy city life. For everyone, it’s a chance to make memories with animals that have distinct personalities and charm.

We believe that every visit helps build a stronger connection between people and the land, encouraging respect and care for the environment.

Tips for Making the Most of Your Visit

To help you enjoy your time at the farm, here are a few tips:

  • Wear comfortable shoes for walking on uneven ground

  • Bring a camera or smartphone to capture moments with the highland cows and baby cows

  • Dress in layers, as mountain weather can change quickly

Spring has brought a wonderful burst of activity to our farm, and we are grateful to everyone who has made the journey to meet our highland cows and baby cows.
